A New Transmission from Equinox Starfleet
Learn the Lore of the Equinox-backed Star Atlas DAC
At Equinox Starfleet, we are not only building a Decentralized Autonomous Corporation (DAC), but a universe filled with deep and exciting lore. We want members to be immersed in our story and attached to the personas they will build within the Equinox Starfleet universe.
Very soon, we will begin releasing lore drops every fortnight. With these, members will be able to make a difference in the storyline using a voting mechanism. The outcome of the stories will impact how Equinox Starfleet will operate in the future as a DAC.
For example, members will be able to:
- Choose the name of our Calico Guardian,
- Select which ships will take the Equinox Starfleet Admiral on his next mission, or
- Help the Admiral make difficult decisions such as whether to engage with an enemy ship or flee to safety.

Summary
Equinox (EX) Starfleet is the space force of the Equinox Federation, a regional collection of planets, space stations, and various space operations. It is also a member entity of the Alliance of Humankind in the MUD territory.
EX Starfleet is tasked with protecting the Federation’s spacefaring interests, spanning everything from law and order to commercial operations and defense. The group is headed by a Starfleet Admiral, who answers directly to the Chancellor of the Equinox Federation.
History
The founding of the Federation is closely tied to the first colonial expedition to settle on Equinox, often referred to as the First Voyage. Generations ago, when humankind’s space expansion began in earnest, a rapid rise in colonization gave birth to a growing rank of independent and wealthy industry leaders, scientific experts, and engineers. These pioneers provided both the economies and practical solutions to the challenges faced by colonial society.
But rising fortunes placed them at greater odds with the original governments and regulators of the home planets, who sought to enforce their sphere of influence and tame these new frontiers. Seeking greater autonomy for themselves, an assembly of investors and industry leaders turned to the stars, finding a region of space they could call their own and within which they could remain free: Equinox.
To this end, they recruited some of humanity’s brightest and best for the arduous mission, bringing with them both like-minded idealists but also the brains behind some of humanity’s best space settlements of the time. They embarked, and upon their arrival at Equinox, settlement came quickly.
Culture
Equinoxians are regarded as industrious and innovative, and are renowned as some of humanity’s most brilliant minds across the fields of commerce, science, and engineering. In particular, they specialize in spacefaring and colonization — a reflection of their roots. Indeed, most Equinoxians work in trade, manufacturing, or scientific research. Civil society is geared towards these pursuits, with everything from educational institutes and popular culture, to government services being oriented towards these priorities.
This is perhaps best exemplified by the various non-military roles that EX Starfleet members have taken on. The formation of the MUD territory heralded an increase in domestic migration from across human-controlled space into Equinox, typically drawing titans of industry and top scientific minds to the planet. Similarly, the signing of the galactic peace treaty has also given way to more non-human migration, making Equinox one of the few parts of MUD that counts non-humans as members of its society.
Politics
Equinox is governed by a council of the federation and headed by a Chancellor. Egalitarianism, free enterprise, and innovation are the core beliefs enshrined in the founding documents of the society and the state.
